Hemp Fabric
The environmental benefits of hemp, combined with its durable characteristics as a fabric, is what makes hemp an excellent source for apparel.
CLOTHING
Hemp fiber is lightweight, absorbent and breathes easily. With three times the tensile strength of cotton and a higher tensile strength than steel, it won't weaken or wear out when washed. The thread count in hemp clothing is high, which means it’s tightly woven. That’s why the sun's rays are unable to penetrate through the material, helping protect your skin by naturally filtering UV light.
Hemp buds pack excellent antimicrobial properties which make it last longer than any other textile fiber like cotton, polyester, etc. Hemp clothes don’t become distorted or discolored even after multiple washes.
FARMING
Hemp is less expensive to farm because of its minimal growth requirements. As crops, they grow quickly and require half as much water as cotton. They grow vertically, sometimes up to 6 meters, increasing growing space and maximizing yields. As a farmer, you can grow multiple cycles of hemp on the same land, as part of multiple crop rotations.
Hemp is rugged and a minimal plant, needing much less water than most vegetation. It is inherently resistant to pests, flourishing without the use of pesticides or fertilizers and grows in most diverse regions. Finally, hemp helps lift up farmers, with no chemical farming it's more ethical, and reduces pollution levels.
SUSTAINABILITY
Nothing is wasted in the hemp production process; seeds are used to make oil and food supplements, while the stalks are used for fiber. It produces more fiber per acre than trees and can be renewed two to three times per year. Hemp farming is a cheap and fast way to curb global warming, as it is one of the fastest CO2 biomass conversion tools.
Industrial hemp plants absorb more carbon dioxide than trees. Their short growth cycle, enables them to reach their full carbon sequestering potential within 100 days, while other trees can take decades.
With all the benefits this plant has, we're delighted to offer our biodegradable HEMP BASEBALL CAP. Known for centuries for its strength and durability, this cap will last far longer, and provide more ultraviolet protection, than a traditional cotton cap.
